Light is essential for life of human being. And lighting is an indispensable element for every decoration project/application. With the rapid development of China's society and economy, people's demand for working and living environment is changing, and the quality of light environment for each space is more and more concerned.

Till today, it is acknowledged that professional lighting design is necessary for interior lighting. Lighting design as an independent industry is flourishing, It's still far from universal. The effect of lighting design on interior space design should to be known and understood by more people. At present, the group size of lighting designers is far from meeting the development needs of architectural decoration industry. We need to find out the way how to improve the quality of interior lighting design quickly in a short time. The interior designer is the designer of the interior space environment, He(she) is the key person who can directly affect the space effect. If can improve lighting design ability of interior designers directly, optimize their professional knowledge structures, and support with relevant standard of lighting design, thus, it can effectively improve the quality of interior lighting design, and gradually solve the problems which including lighting design level vary in quality, poor experience and serious light pollution that have been existed in the architectural decoration industry for many years. 

For these purposes, in the middle of April 2019, with the approval of China Building Decoration Association, the “The application standard of architectural interior lighting design”, which is served as the editor-in-chief unit by China Association for Building Electrical Branch and Opple Lighting, was officially initiated. Domestic well-known enterprises, organizations and units such as China construction eighth engineering division co, ltd(cscec8b), CREGC architectural & construction engineering co, ltd, National Museum of China, Ledvance, CSLC International Lighting Consultant Limited, J+B Studios Architecture Lighting (JBS), NVC lighting, Suzhou Gold mantis, PAK, Lumbency lighting, Zhejiang province institute of architectural design and research, Softlux, China academy of art, Bejing Qingshang Architectural Design institute etc have coedited and written this document. The coedited units from enterprises and organizations, includes architectural design, interior design, lighting design, lighting enterprises, and industry associations, to ensure the standard is able to match the current industry situation, also have more forward looking.

In the process of writing, editorial committee in view of the different functions and attributes of each building space and the different requirements for indoor light environment, the standard takes the space type as the classification benchmark, divide the spaces into 18 types, including residential space, dining space, office space, hotel and office space, the space of a home stay facility, retail stores, bookstores, supermarket space, entertainment space, shopping center space, display space, theatre, library, hospital space, school teaching space, traffic space, industrial space, religious building space and develop the corresponding lighting design principles, lighting standard values and other content as per different spaces.    

After more than a year of research, discussion, revision, adjustment, improvement, first draft, final draft and many other links, editorial committee conquered many difficulties due to Cov-19. is finally official published, document No. T/CBDA 48-2021, and officially implemented on1st May, 2021.    

The establishment of the standard will effectively improve the quality of interior lighting design, to meet the requirements of applicability, economy, green, beautiful. At the same time, the landing of the standard will further fill the blank of decoration, interior lighting design and other relevant standards. It will benefit designers in the construction and decoration industry, effectively improve the application level of interior lighting design, and promote the domestic interior lighting experience into a new stage.  

After is published, it means that the standardless age of interior lighting design is terminated. Through the guidance of standards, it provides interior designers and primary lighting designers with reference basis lighting design for different space so that designers can have a reference standard and basis for self-learning, self-checking and self-improvement when carrying out lighting design, so as to meet customers' requirements for constantly improving the quality of light environment.

In addition, in order to enhance the luminaires development engineers’ and interior designers’ understanding and application on this standard, editorial committee at the same time wrote the (hereinafter referred to as "lighting design manual"), and further enhance their specialty literacy, let the luminaire development, lighting design and application to be more standard and systematic, so as to improve the accuracy and quality of space design.   

As a participating unit and a well-known brand in the lighting industry, Lumbency lighting actively participated in the establishment of the standard and application manual, and contributed itself to this meaningful work! In the future, Lumbency lighting will, as always share and promote the standard and application manual with the China Decoration Association, design unit, design institutes, engineering partner in interior lighting design, help to create more comfortable, more beautiful effect for spaces, always practice the idea of "human oriented lighting" .
